Brake fluid will strip anything; fill a tub slightly larger than the model with two or three bottles of brake fluid and let is sit for a few hours. Use toothbrush to remove paint from nooks & cranies. Be advised some of the glued joints will dissolve too forcing you to glue some parts again. This applies esp. to small parts. Any putty used to fill seams will be gone too.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I didn't even think to try to brake fluid.  Fortunately I had a quart under the modeling desk, and it worked like a champ.  Thanks again!!

The lacquer has more "bite" so Simple Green won't work. You'll have to step up to Easy Off or brake fluid.

Stripping Tamiya spray can lacquer??
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 5, 2007 7:32 PM
Anyone have any experience with a good stripper for Tamiya spray can lacquer?  I am referring to the standard spray can paint (TS series).  I am trying to strip a part that fell during painting.  Of course the finish was beautiful till it broke loose.  I am soaking the part in Super Clean right now, but it doesn't seem to be working very well.  Haven't tried oven cleaner or any of the other favorites yet...Thanks in advance.....
