RadMax8:

You can order the packing from the link I posted, Dixie Art is very fast getting orders to you.  If you need any other airbrush parts, place an order with them.  No telling how long you will wait for your LHS to get the part for you.

One thing you can try is to tighten the packing nut a little more, it tends to squeez the packing washer and make it fit better against the needle.

Tymanda, that's what I was afraid of. I replaced the packing washer not too long ago, but I wasn't exactly gentle in putting it inBlack Eye [B)]. Ill talk to my hookup at the LHS, see if he can get one in shortly. Thanks for the advice!

From your discription of the problem you probably have a packing washer that is bad.  This link will take you to a diagram of the VL broken down:  http://www.dixieart.com/VLParts.html  Part 21 is the packing washer.

If the packing washer is bad the airbrush will spit and air bubbles will appear in you paint jar or cup.

You might be able to fix the problem with a pipe cleaner soaked in lacquer thinner and run it thru the back of the airbrush where the needle goes.  If a through cleaning of the airbrush doesn't fix the problem, you will have to replace the packing.

I'm not too familiar with the Paasche VL, but that's never stopped me offering an opinion before!

This can happen with my Badger, too and is almost always the result of improper cleaning. Give it a good soak in lacquer thinner. Make sure there isn't a rubber O-ring in the airvalve first. I remove mine entirely before dunking it in the thinner.

So long folks!

Hey gang, I'm spraying with a Paasche VL. I'm wondering if my brush is trashed... Paint gets into the trigger/air chamber and gums up the needle. What can I do to prevent this?? Thanks in advance!
