Received my first AB today, I have some questions.

Darn Bill! I was gonna ask you to make me one of those awesome air-supply-in-a-jug things for me!  -I had to order some goodies from Squadron to hold me over till i get that AB... Your's will get to you before i get mine!

Thanks Abarne for answering those questions...I didn't think i needed a 10' hose...You can really feel pulsation though if you stick your hand up to the compressor with nothing connected.

Phil-Thanks a bunch for clearing up the bleeder valve thing! I always have the bleeder valve on because i don't even know how to get it off...Do i screw that screw in or leave it out? If it is out, that will mean there is a hole in the bleeder valve and i won't be getting full pressure to my AB.

The bleeder valve is needed because the D500 is a tankless diaphragm compressor. The purpose of the valve is to provide overpressure relief by bleeding excess air from the system when the notor is running and you're not actually pressing the trigger on the airbrush. If the bleeder valve isn't present, excess backpressure in the system could (a) burst the diaphragm (b) cause excessive loading on the motor.

Some diaphragm compressors overcome the need for a bleeder by having an air pressure switch in the output side of the system which senses when you are depressing the trigger on the airbrush and cuts the motor when you release the trigger.

My Badger 180-1 which I think is at least similar makes a lot of noise if I turn it on without an airbrush connected to it.  Wait'll you get your airbrus on it before worrying about it too much.

Again, wait until you have your airbrush connected to before worrying about it.  Without an airbrush connected, I can feel a distinct pulsation from my compressor.  Once an airbrush is connected, I cannot feel any pulsation from the tip of the airbrush.  This is regardless of whether the airbrush was supplied by a 10' Badger hose, a 6' Paasche hose, or a really thin (I don't know how long) Aztek hose.

I have the same thing.  There should be a little nylon screw theaded into the side of the thing near one end.  Take out the screw and turn on the compressor to blow out the moisture.  Don't worry if you can't clear out every last droplet of water.

 

LOL No, the hose goes out through the back of the booth and through the wall behind it to my garage compressor. The plastic jug is what I use to empty my AB into when cleaning. I've cut an X into it about a third of the way up and stick the tip of the AB in and squirt cleaner through it. Then I let it evaporate off

Alright...$40 sounded a little pricey. I'll try Wal-Mart first. So all i need is that reg, two m-t-m 1/4 connector, and it will connect right up with my paasche compressor and badger hose? Oh, is that old pastic jug your air supply? No seriously now...that hose is connected to it.

No, the 100LG is a classic, and has been around for years and years. Very popular, it is! 

I know what a bleeder valve is, I just don't know why you have one, they're normally used to drain air or moisture from tanks, and you don't have one! 

Don't buy a regulator from a hobby store unless you're independently wealthy. Go to Harbor Freight or Lowe's or Walmart or something and buy one for $10! They look like this:

You'll probably need a 1/4" Male to Male NPT Connector or two and get some teflon tape. One between the compressor and the regulator, and another between the reg and the AB. The connector looks like this:

It was just me...Now i think the D500 sounds beautiful I guess it was "in stock" when i ordered it and...IT's ON BACKORDER! Is that a new AB?  Your 200-20 was in stock? That's disgusting  Yea I'll be emailing them about a LOT of other things besides that 99D500! They is..i forgot. I just heard it. Ok I'll email them about the in-line water trap too. Now...that D535 bleeder valve ya know? If this doesn't make sense to you, I'll gladly take a picture of it and post it on here.
