ditto to the MM Sand (a close match to OIF US armor color if you want actual picture reference).

Probably for similar reasons.

  1. Wife hates the smell of enamels.
  2. Acrylics wash up with soap and water.
  3. Acrylics are easier to remove when I screw up (often).
  4. Acrylics have less volatile organic compounds that cause allergies or healt concerns
  5. Wife really hate the smell of enamels (arguable).
  6. I use Tamiya exclusively, as I find they airbrush fantastically. Brushpainting is a bit of an art form.
  7. Did I mention that the wife really, really hates the smell of enamels?

I'm not familiar with the Testors lineup of Enamels. They don't list a "buff".

Tamiya XF-57 Buff = FS 33531. The Model Master FS Enamel line doesn't seem to list that color, but the FS cross reference at IPMS Stockholm shows Model Master 1706 Sand is close. To my eye it's too yellow.

Humbrol 121 Israeli Pale Stone is closer. I can't find a Testors match, so you weren't kidding you didn't know BUFF!

So long folks!

Thanks. This Tamiya kit has a paint schedule which consist of (of coarse) Tamiya paints mostly of which are acrylic, I have all Testors enamels. I am new to this and it seems as though 90% or more of the plane builders on this forum use acrylics. Maybe there is a reason for this?

One of the colors called out for my p-47 cockpit is Buff. BUFF? BUFF? I do not have Buff. I cannot find Buff. I never heard of Buff. Are there any good substitutes for BUFF.
