Paint booths and rattle cans?
Posted by mr moto on Thursday, August 30, 2007 2:58 PM
Does anyone have experience using paintbooths (Pace or similar) with rattlecans? Does that work? I'm an automotive modeler and prefer to paint bodies with spray cans (Duplicolor and Krylon primarily). I want to get a spray booth but I think that a typical booth designed for airbrushing might be simply overwhelmed by the volume of paint from a spray can. The image in my mind looks like I'm applying a spray paint finish to the booth and there's a model car in the way giving it a little protection! Any experiences?
The modeler's rule of thumb: The worse it smells, the better it works!

I have a homebuilt version, but the results are probably the same. There is a LOT more overspray. If you want to keep your booth looking nice, tape some newspaper on the walls before spraying. That way you can keep a pristine interior.

So long folks!

I have an Artograph 1520, and wouldn't consider it.  It sometimes has trouble containing overspray when using an airbrush at full open and moderately high pressure... a rattle can would definitely overwhelm it.
