How much Gloss?
Posted by Ant on Thursday, September 13, 2007 8:00 PM
HI to all. i have started to use glosscote for my decaling and im not sure as to just how glossy i should make it? i have been only glossing where the decals go. my problem is that it seems to take a lot of coats to get a real gloss, so do i do it that way or just a coulpe of light coats to seal the flat?

The more gloss, the better. Especially if you are using a acryl clear coat. I have to do several (3-5) layers of it to get a gloss suitable for decals. Hope this helps...

All you need is a surface with more gloss than flat to get the decals to not "silver" and that is it.

Hello All,

While we're on the subject of gloss coats...

I'm using Gunze Sangyo Clear Gloss, how much to i need to thin it before airbrushing?  Is it like a normal gloss of about 60/40 or can it go straight on out of the bottle?

thanks

Chris
