Screwed up MM Acryl lids
Posted by tabascojunkie on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 5:45 PM

What advice do any of you have for what happens to Model Master Acryl lids when they stick to the jar? I've had a few that the paint between the lid and jar dried and when I pull the lid off, the paper stopper(?) sticks to the jar. Peel it off and the foil tears up and the stopper is no good anymore.

Not a really big deal, just it makes it kinda messy and hard to open the jars after that. Any tips?

Prevention is the best cure. When you remove the lid, before you do anything else, clean the inside of the lid completely. That means no trace of paint on the sealing surface. Before you replace the lid, clean the rim, the throat (inside the mouth of the bottle) and the threads of any paint. Screw on the lid as tightly as you can with hand pressure. Store upright.

I had one that did that.  I think a cat knocked it on its side and it leaked a little and stuck.  I cut a square of plastic wrap that I put between the lid and jar to provide a seal to preserve it.
