Primer Prep Question
Posted by kans0002 on Thursday, October 4, 2007 8:43 PM

I want to lay down a pristine paint job...I have primed with Tamiya fine white primer, my question is, would you recommend lightly wet sanding the primer coat to help the final color adhere better? What grit number?

 Thanks all.

Check your primer for orange peel effect. A light sanding with a polishing stick or ultra find sandpaper would be a good idea. Wet sand with water to pull up the sludge, then rise well. Let dry for a good couple of days afterwards. It never fails that droplet of water hides tucked inside an opening somewhere only to reappear during the painting process and muck it all up.Banged Head [banghead]
