Badger told me to send my airbrush in (?)
Posted by ben1227 on Friday, October 12, 2007 12:56 PM
I made a post here about my 100LG, and how there's a ridge in the color cup as if paint thinner dissolved the chrome plating. Well, I told Badger that, it still works fine, but they said send it in since it's under warranty. I can't wait to see how they fix it, or if they do. It really doesn't bother me, but I'll send it in anyways. Anyone ever sent there's in for a problem like this?

The coating shouldn't come off, so they're right. Send the brush in. I bet they will strip down your AB, replace the body and reship to you.

No, I haven't seen this problem before, but it IS a coating over the brass, and things do happen. Just like release molds repel paint, I suspect the cup hadn't been properly cleaned before chroming.

They're doing the right thing, which fills me with satisfaction and a feeling of well being. Considering how many of their airbrushes I own, and how much I recommend them, it's a bit of a relief! Thumbs Up [tup]

So long folks!

I have sent my AB's in to Badger before. I can say it was the best thing I did. They fixed it right, and replaced parts that were not worn, new needle, head assembly, needle bearing and seals for an alignment issue. And they did it free! I only paid the shipping to them. Took three weeks and it was back in my hand like new. Their customer service is the best!

I suspect they won't fix yours. I'd bet you'll get a new one.Big Smile [:D]

Take this plastic and model it!

I would agree. Ken and his staff take care of people like no other airbrush company.

Why do you think I am such a Badger advocate? Wink [;)]

Almost all of my gravity feed airbrushes have the chrome plating worn off from use....including my Iwata HP-CS. I think it is normal but with a free replacement go for it. Wink [;)]

Long use, I can understand, but Ben has had his airbrush than a month! Mines a year old and looks brand new. My color cups that came with the 150 do too.

So long folks!

Another vote for their excellent service.  I sent in an old (30+ years) model 200 to have the needle bearing replaced.  It came back along with a new head assembly, needle, and needle chuck assembly - plus, they returned the old parts for sentimental reasons as I told them I was basically only restoring this old airbrush because I'd had it so long.

And the price was right...

That explains the gold color showing through..

As stated in another post, I suspect that rigorous cleaning with an ammonia based cleaner took the chrome off.  Too much Windex is not a good thing as far as looks go.

I've never been required to scrub my color cups, and I use Windex all the time. I know Ben soaked his in Lacquer thinner which is what I am presuming was the culprit. I've left the color cups from my 150/200-20 in a Windex bath overnight without any problems. I do know that the ammonia can stain the finish black, but I didn't think it could remove it!

So long folks!
