Between Coats
Posted by Adriaran on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 6:00 PM
Well I'm not too experienced at modeling yet, but right now I'm working on a simple model, just a straight Revell FW-190 from-the-box. I'm trying out my first attempts at good weathering, and I just finished spraying an aluminum undercoat so I can do salt weathering and make it look like the paint's chipped. I'm about to spray on the colored coat, but I was wondering, do I need to seal the aluminum coat so that when I salt weather it, water won't damage it?

What silver did you use? Most fully cured paints, regardless of type, withstand water pretty well if not immersed. Some aluminum pigmented paints will discolor if exposed to salt water and air for a sufficient time, especially the buffing metallics.

Ross Martinek A little strangeness, now and then, is a good thing… Wink

Ok...whenever I have reach a point where a big decission needs to be made here's what I do"

What is the worst outcome that could happen? Is the possible outcome worth saving a little time?

In your case your under coat could be ruined (that's pretty bad)

Seal away!  IMO

It's Model Master's Aluminum Enamel. No.1781

Well if I'm going to seal, what would you suggest I use?
