100LG Problem
Posted by ben1227 on Saturday, October 20, 2007 10:13 AM
Badger uses solvent proof Teflon O-rings for most of the parts of the airbrush. But there's a rubber O-ring inside the air valve mechanism. I've soaked my brush in lacquer thinner twice, and I bet it's dissolved the O-ring. I can't get that bottom assembly unscrewed. It is impossible, it's stuck on or screwed on very tight. You can't use the wrench to get it off like you can with the head assembly, and it needs to come off so I can replace the O-ring.

I thought you were returning it to Badger under warrenty to fix the coating coming off in the cup?

DO SO! they will tune the brush and replace the O-rings. The air valve is one place where judicial application of SMALL pliers are allowed. It doesn't take much to crush things with pliers. BUT I would return it to Badger first!

I kind of disregarded there invitation to send it to them because the color cup still holds paint and I wanted to finish my model! Whistling [:-^]

Problem is, I gently dropped the brush into a jar of lacquer thinner with the tip off because I had another Model Master Gray incident where it got paint in the inner workings, and it bent the little brass tip which the needle goes through. So I have to pay another $15 for a new head assembly. Then I can send it in..

Ben, send it in NOW. Forget about buying a head assembly. They'll fix it (and likely charge you for the piece, but maybe not) so DO IT TODAY!

I suspect they'll just exchange the brush for a new one. One which you will be MORE CAREFUL with, right? Whistling [:-^]

Exactly!

They are used to new airbrush users damaging parts due to lack of understanding of the airbrush. Send it in and you will be charged very little for repairs I would say and as Bgrigg said they may very well fix it at no cost except shipping it back to them.

I'm pretty careful with it, and I never threw it at the wall like I just did my Italeri Skyraider...Just a few accidents.

I'll send it in with a note of what's wrong and that I didn't have enough time to get a new head assembly before I sent it in...

If careful simply means not throwing it at the wall then what happens when you're not careful?Whistling [:-^]

I agree, send it in.
