I have had some decent results using Krylon Brass to get a gold finish.  Every other gold paint is actually antique gold, which is not what most people associate with C-3PO.

Just experiment with techniques to get the propper finish.  And try painting over regular primer as well as a gloss black basecoat as they change the relective properties of the brass color.

I use bare metal, mostly to mask canopies howver I am not sure that is the look I am going for, I find with bare metal foil the finish never is not what I am going for.

How about Gold Bare-Metal foil?  I've never used the stuff myself, but car guys use it for chrome trim and bumpers, and airplane guys use it for natural metal finishes.

I started painting a vinyl C-3P0 but the gold is not what I want.

I sprayed on a coat of tamyia gold, but C-3P0 is supposed to be a very shiny yellowish gold.

Any suggetions on how to achive this colour?

I was thinking about goldleafing but I imiagine it would be next to impossible to polish the gold to bring on a good shine without the gold coming off. I could be wrong as I have never done this.

 Thanks
