Thanks Mike and E. I'm surprised to hear that the piece is installed with a special tool but so it goes. At least now I have an answer. Bad news never gets better with time. Merry Christmas to all.

The needle bearing is press fit in the airbrush body with a special tool.

You will need to send it to someone such as Coast Airbrush in Anaheim, CA to install a new one.

Short ( and simple ) answer is that it keeps whatever fluids that you are spraying from seeping into your airbrush's innards.  Yes, I would get a new one.

Iwata Eclipse CS Parts Question
Posted by Chester87 on Sunday, December 9, 2007 8:56 PM

Recently while cleaning my Eclipse, I lost the needle packing screw (Eclipse part schematic part # 14A). Does anyone have an idea what this part does? Is this the teflon needle guide that I see occasionally discussed? Any help appreciated.
