As long as you have thoroughly cleaned the surface before paint it should stand up to the tape.  But really there is no need to Future the bottom before you mask for the top.  Let the bottom color fully dry/cure.   Mask it carefully and burnish the edges of the mask to minimize the chance for any bleed.  Spray you lighter color on top and repeat… full dry and mask and spray the dark.  Then after any touch ups, Future to seal and prepare for decals.

Sequence when Painting Aircraft?

Working on my first model, a 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I, and I have the bottom painted Sky. Should I Future the bottom prior to painting the top of the plane or wait. I prefer to do it before I start painting the top to preserve the finish, but I am afraid of the buildup being visble. Is that a problem? Also does Future stand up to blue painters tape pretty well? Thanks!
