Just like Grandpa wore, that's a big "Depends"! Wink [;)]

Here's MusicCity's take on it.

I know people who spray at settings supposedly too low for airbrushes to work well, and they put out wonderful paint jobs.

I know people who spray at ridiculously high settings, and their work is amazing.

As near as I can tell there is a pretty much universal rule to start at, though:

Gravity Fed: thin paints to the consistency of 2% milk and shoot between 10-20psi.

Siphon Fed: thin paints to the consistency of 2% milk and shoot between 15-25psi.

The very best advice I can give you is to get a cheap model and practice, practice, practice. Do some experiments and keep notes on your thinning ratio and air pressure.

Oh. And practice!

So long folks!

Model master gloss paints, what PSI?

I got some money for christmas, I am gonna finally upgrade from my little POS testors hobby compressor to a real one with a tank and a pressure regulator(so excited). So here is the  question, for the last couple months I have been airbrushing blind. Not sure how many PSI that little testors thing was shooting. So now that I have the choice I have no idea what to choose. I know that it really can change due to all sorts of variables but what is your baseline for a gloss model master enamel? thanks ahead of time everybody.

It is only the intellect that keeps me sane; perhaps this makes me overvalue intellect against feeling
