I have never had any issue with TS crazing plastic.

yes, but be warned that unlike your typical lacquer primers the Tamiya sprays are "hotter" and may craze the plastic.   Temperature of the can, temperature of the plastic and humidity as well as how thick you lay on the paint will result in how well it does.

Safe bet:  Get some Duplicolor primer and shoot that on first. I havent had any problems with laying on thin coats of TS, and letting them dry adequately in between coats.

Can a spray can lacquer (Tamiya TS series) be used to give a base coat for a tank?

Is it flat, semi-gloss or gloss?

Thanks
