cup or bottle
Posted by tiger 2 on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 10:34 PM

I am getting a new airbrush and it comes with a cup and a bottle, which would be better?

And which is easier to clean?

thanks!

Which brush?

I find the cups a little easier to clean up than the brushes. I also find the cups easier to use as they are lighter and don't require as much paint as the bottles require.

So long folks!

Go Gravity Fed! I love em for their ease of clean up...don't get me wrong I own siphon feeds too, but a majority of my painting is done with my gravity feed just because when you are doing smaller jobs, it is sooo much easier to clean up between colors.

That's funny, because I find it much easier to cleanup between colors with a siphon feed.  Pull off the bottle, pop on a bottle of cleaner, spray a bit through and move on.  The gravity feed, I have to pour the remaining paint into a jar, then wipe out the cup, run some cleaner through and then add the next color.

But for final cleanup, gravity is easier.  With a siphon, trying to clean the bottles and get all the paint out of the hoses is a pain in the rear.

Fred,

Get an ultrasonic cleaner and drop them in there with some water and Windex and turn it on.

Works great!

For the plastic bottles?  I wonder if I could fix all of my older bottles with the paint-clogged siphone hoses...

Fred,

If they have dried paint then the ultrasonic cleaner isn't going to help much.

I would soak them in Super Clean degreaser or Windex for 24 hours and use a brush or pipe cleaner to try and get the hardened paint out.

Cool! Let me know how you like it!

I clean my airbrushes, paint brushes, and eye droppers in mine and it works great.
