Camouflage question
Posted by morto on Thursday, February 21, 2008 10:08 AM

When using an airbrush for camouflaging, is it better to apply the colors and shapes freehand or to mask off the areas with masking tape and then apply the color.  I realize that if masking is used then the borders will be much sharper.  Any advise will be appreciated.

It all depends on your proficiency with the airbrush. I use masks only when absolutely needed as I prefer to freehand. To get a soft edge with masks...the edge only has to be raised slightly above the surface. This can be done with a spacer made from fishline as one example. The other way is the angle in which you spray along the mask's edge.
