I'm just getting interested in AB and since I haven't got mine yet I spend my time reading as much as I can. I found a lot of info in these forums and also few threads talking about cleaning the AB with windex (yes, yes, here we go again...) no please, keep reading... I know nothing about AB paints (but I guess thre are a lot of them water based). When people talk about acrylics, are they water based acrylics or solvent based???? (I know there are the both types depending on the aplication).Acrylics are generally water based.
Well, I went longer than I wanted, so here we go... When people talk about using Windex (or alcohol) I guess it for cleaning water based paints, is that correct???You are correct, for cleaning water based acrylic paints.
In my case I'll be using automotive type paints, so I guess I'll need to use laquer thinner to wash my (future) AB? or there is some other (less agressive) choice?You'll need to use what ever thinning agent you use to thin the automotive paints. Some are enamels, some are lacquer...but lacquer thinner will thin both and usually clean up afterwards as well. There are alternatives, but as long as you clean with the lacquer thinner and flush it afterwards with water and allow it to dry, you should not have any problems. Thanks, Fernando |
