Thanks for the idea, i will try the Pine sol as soon as i can find some. As to the question of the brake fluid attacking the plastic, i guess only time will tell. I'll let you know how it goes. Watch this space.

I have not used brake fluid. But, I would try using Pine-Sol to get rid of the brake fluid. Using Pine sol on my HO scale railroad models works to remove the paint. I have heard of brake fluid removing paint on brass models. Wouldn't the brake fluid attack the plactic?

Paint stripping plastic models

Last year i made Airfixs' 1/24 Spitfire & Me.109. Both projects were primed using Halfords  acrylic spray paint. On top of this, all spraying and hand painting, weathering etc...was done using Humbrol paints. This was then finished off with Humbrol spray matt varnish. The Spit was fine, but the 109 was a disaster. The varnish seriously reacted with the paint in several places, virtually writing off the model. However,i heard that brake fluid might be the answer, so i dug the model out and applied brake fluid to the damaged areas. Amazing! The paint came off where it had reacted and was left ok where it had not. Also, the primer underneath was left unscathed.

I now have a problem which is the reason for this post. I ca'nt seem to get the damn brake fluid off. No matter what i use it remains sticky. Has anybody got any ideas? Please!
