Humbrol Mattcote not flat...
Posted by BlitZ_SWE on Thursday, March 13, 2008 3:20 AM

Hello everybody!

First post here! Greetings from Sweden!!

Well i have a bit of a problem with the cotes of Humbrol, especially the flat one. First i airbrushed a cote of glosscote(that came out more as a mix of satin and gloss and not fully gloss) to do a sludgewash. after that, waited 48 hours after the sludge wash had been applied i airbrushed the mattcote. it didnt came out flat at all. it was shiny as the glosscote, and i am 100 percent sure i sprayed the mattcote and not glosscote. Smile [:)] And I checked this after it had dried. I thinned the cotes with humbrols own thinner for airbrushing. What went wrong? before i applied the mattcote i could see in the recesses where the sludge wash was it was a bit flat because of the wash and after the mattcote it was shiny so I know a cote was applied and not just thinner if I somehow would have thinned it so much that almost no cote was in the mix.

Any thoughts or own experiences with the same product. The products i am talking about are these

Can you recommend any other products available in Sweden/Europe for flat and glosscote?

Cheers

Christian

Hello from Australia, I am going to ask the dumb question first!....did you completly stir the matt coat before using or did you just use it straight. I ask this because if you leave a spray say of matte coat standing from some period of time and then spray it with out shaking it, it will come out like it a gloss as the matting agent has not been mixing with the rest of the liquid. Cheers
