I use Teflon Tape on all my compressor/hose fittings.  The tape seals 99% of the air leaks.

You can get most of the fittings at Home Depot or Lowe's.  You may have a problem with the comeressor output fitting because its metric (5mm).

I would come out of the Comressor output with a 1/2" hose to the regulator and out of the regulator with a male 1/2" thread on both ends and then the airbrush hose with the adapter.

The regulator shoul have a input and output plainly marked on it, if not look for a direction arrow.

there is also some liquid teflon that you can use. I've used this stuff on macro line fittings on paintball guns. works wonderfully with high pressure applications. you just have to wait 24 hours before you can run air through it.

Yeah, you won't get a good pressure reading with a big leak, you're probably only getting enough pressure to barely spray the water.

What you need is a male/female adaptor with one end to fit the compressor and the other end to fit the moisture trap.  I've gotten my fittings wherever I bought the compressor.  I now use a CO2 tank and got my pressure guages and a fitting at a beer homebrew shop where they have beer tap equipment.  Also, If the connection between the moisture trap and airbrush hose is the same size, I don't understand why you need an adaptor there instead of connecting the hose straight to the moisture trap.

Simplify the connections as much as possible and if you still have a leak, you can wrap the joint threads with a little plumber's teflon tape.

setting up compressor to moisture trap to AB

Hi guys

I recently upgraded from Aztek airbrush that came with the blue ice compressor to a new compressor and badger 360 (the aztek actually broke in half, and the internal components fell out, can you believe that?). I was setting up the air compressor (hobbico CP101) to the moisture trap/pressure regulator combo (also from Hobbico) and finally to the airbrush.  I encountered some problems:

Is there a good way to connect all these? I went to Ace Hardware, they didn't have a good solution, so I used a series of nuts and adaptors like this: Compressor with male thread -> 1/2 inch hex nut -> 1/2 to 3/8 inch adaptor (two male threads) -> some other adaptor (one female, one male thread) -> Moisture trap -> 1/2 to 1/2 inch adaptor (two male threads) -> Airbrush. At the end I am getting a big air leak at the first hex nut. So is hex nut a good thing to connect two male threads? The connections are totally tight, but how do I prevent leaks? Or am I doing something too complicated or stupid, any simpler methods?

Also, I tested airbrushing with water, and it seems fine albeit with air leak. But I can't really adjust the pressure since the pressure gauge is always zero! Is this what happens when you have a leak?

Thanks a bunch
