Great auto finish

I am fixing to be ready to paint the body of a 77 Trans Am and really want it to look good since it is a gift. It is going to be black and just need some tips on getting a nice look to it. I have never had much luck with getting cars to look good is the main reason I like armor. I will probally be using enamels since they are the only thing really available to me. Thanks.

use a gloss shiny finish to the color....have the plastic polish to glass texture.
have fun.....say it is a gift so it has to be appreciated anyway....you will spend time and devotion on it and there will be a ungreatful creature to complain?..lol

Chris, put a coat of flat primer on before you start trying to paint the gloss black. That will give the gloss somethingn to bite to and won't tend to run as bad. Use light coats to build up the color until the last coat and then get it just heavy enough to be glossy. Then after a good drying time, cover with future and that should really make it look good.

(edit:) So is that a Smoky and the Bandit edition???

Thanks guys.Yea Eric this is the Bandit. Just been sitting htere primed, fillled and sanded waiting for to feel like I can give it a good paint job. Been doing some other little things to it like the interior ( which the details really suck) and wiring the engine. I might give it a go with the body paint in the next couple of days.

Just wondering but is wet sanding something that can be done to every paint job to get it looking good or mainly just to fix a messed up one? If it's something to do anytime then what grade paper would be the best to use?
