Really shiny paint finish?
Posted by garyfo on Thursday, October 30, 2003 12:54 PM
I'm building a speedboat as a xmas present for my brother-in-law. He's a boat lover and has owned quite a few over the past couple of years.

I want to give it a very sparkly, shiny paint job. But I don't know where to get the paint for it.

I don't know how to describe it aside from 'sparkly'. But, those of you who own boats might know what I'm talking about.

Any ideas?

There are an article on FSM a few years ago explaining how to get a shiny finish over a P-51 racer, the author airbrush FUTURE over the painted model in several thin coats; maybe that could work for you.

For the "sparkly" part, are you wanting to add metal flake? If so, there are several metalizers on the market, as well as pearlcoat sprays. Should work wonders.

YES! That's it! That's what I was thinking of! Thanks!
