Plus plus Future is by far the cheapest way to go. There are lots of gloss coats you can use and you'll get a ounce or two for $3 - $4 but with future for about $6 you get just short of a litre.

Plus, it smells nice so your wife/girlfriend/parents won't get pissed off about you fuming up the house!

Ammonia is the best solvent for Future/Pledge floor polish, with de-natured alcohol second best.  If you're using Future, Windex works best for clean-up.  It won't hurt your AB as some may have claimed.

As far as other Gloss coats, there are several available from several suppliers.  MicroScale or ModelMaster Acryl are pretty good acrylics & Testors Gloss Cote is a good lacquer based Gloss.  Some like Krylon, but I hate rattle cans & decanting it for AB use is a PITA. But, none seem to work as well as good old Future/Pledge, which is why it's so very popular with modelers.

like i said i realize that the original windex has ammonia, but my qs was is it be then the non-ammonia kind or the other kind they just came out with?

and is future the only type of product like that or can there be others out there? id like to see that way someone could make some type of chart for the different products and how to use them. that way if they're cheaper in some places than otheres than we'll know whats ok to buy. thanks

You made a good choice.  Only the original blue Windex contains ammonia.

ok so i see that a lot of you'll use the pledge future for models, but can you use other materials? what kind? is there different results or are they the same? i also saw the topic about using windex for cleaning and other topics, i remember seeing that someone said it could harm the brush after time because of the ammonia. i was at walmart today trying to gather materials to get started, because i dont want to get started on something and have to stop 3 mins later, and i noticed that there were a few different types of glass cleaner. they had the original windex, windex without ammonia, and windex with something else in it (cant remember). so out of those which would be the best. i went ahead and bought the original because they had it 2 for 1 and i didnt want to pass on the deal. i just thought i would bring these qs up for the newer modelers like myself. all responses are appreciated. thank you
