I've used Silly Putty too with fairly good results. The only time I had trouble was when I used it with a spray can. The spray ended up going on too thick and reacted with the putty, turning it into a messy goo. Avoid this and Silly Putty will be your best friend when it comes to quick, easy masking.

I'll second that! I used Silly Putty to mask off this 3-color camo scheme I painted on this Panther II. Worked fine!

"I'm usually pretty quite, but this time I'm a blabber mouth". I just got finished painting the rims and tires on an Italeri M-977 Hemtt. After rolling up 6" of tape and throwing it away and trying the old glue cap for a mask, I thought about the article by Cookie Sewell in the July issue of FSM and VOILA!!! Perfect mask job! Thanks to Cookie for a really great article. I'll never be without my Silly Putty again.
