I picked up one of my Iwata's at Hobby Lobby using the 40% Off coupon. What a deal!

That is exactly my plan. I have the HL 40% coupon printed already and I know that they carry the Iwata, but may not the model that I want. I will stop by Hobby Lobby before deciding whether to order from Dixie Art.

Unfortunately, the airbrushes at my local hobby shop is close to MSRP.

So far, my NMF experience is limited to spray can lacquars and am really tempted to try your new product Talon.

Airbrushes are like shoes, find the one that fits best and go with it. I have several brands and styles of airbrushes and no one particular is better or worse than the other. They do have different feel about them but in essence they do the same job. Some are more apt for finer detailing while others are better at broader coverage. I love my Iwatas, and I have been a Paasche users for decades. Your choice sounds right for you and your application, but you need to be the judge. If you can see if someone near you has one and try it out. Going from the heavy Paasche VL to the light Iwata took some getting use to, but now both feel natural in my hand. Just find the one that fits you and your needs...problem with me is they all fit, that's why I have so many of them.Wink [;)]

Take a look at the Badgers too, I've read great reports on those as well. I'd like to give a couple of them a test at the bench sometime. Being a paint manufacturer, it helps me with my customers when I have first hand working knowledge of the airbrush they are using. It helps curtail any frustration factors whether it be user technique, paint or the airbrush itself. Unfortunately, our airbrushes face some intense rath when things go wrong, which usually relates to unfamiliarity of the equipment or technique. Many a good airbrush has been tossed because of it.

I picked up one of my Iwata's at Hobby Lobby using the 40% Off coupon. What a deal!

In this day and age of copies and clones which have no recourse for part and service, why would you purchase one? Just to save a few bucks on the front end only to spend even more on the back when you have to replace it?

There are many factory authorized dealers who offer fantastic pricing online. Anyone who is paying full retail for one isn't an informed consumer or one who has shopped around either online or in ones community.

The saying: You get what you pay for. Is especially true when you are purchasing durable goods such as airbrushes.

Many of these clones/copies are cast at the same foundries in China that are casting metal toys using metals from suspectable sources (recycled). Which are being found to be radio active, or containing such things as high amounts of lead and other metals which are considered harmful to humans.

I'd suggest shopping at "mainstream" online retailers before shopping eBay. Check out dixieart.com If you can't find one let me know I have other resources you can check.

Gerald, I agree with every thing you said. In fact, I try to support my local hobby shops as much as I can. Yes, some online shops offer excellent price and service too. I still shop at Ebay to see the wider range of products and check the price point.

I am very curious about the Roy Airbrush outfit due to some of the interesting claims they made. For example, you can get 3 cup sizes in one of their set. (Iwata offers different cup size only in different CS sets.) You are right that it is not worth saving $50 for a lifetime investment.

I have limited amount of time for my hobby and it won't change until I retire. I have had a simple external mix Paasche for 20 years and am ready to upgrade to a better airbrush. I purchased the Aztek A4709 but decided not to keep it. More research convinced me that the Iwata Eclipse CS will meet my need the best. Any suggestion?

Ebay Store "Roy Airbrush"

I was shopping for an Iwata Eclipse CS airbrush on Ebay and came across this "Roy Airbrush" Ebay Store. They sell a RH35H model which looks just like the Eclipse. They claim that it comes from the same factory of "famous brand".

Anyone has first hand experience with the quality of items from Roy Airbrush?
