No issues with clear coat  over decals. Just don't overspray the clearcoat on the decals. I've had instances where too much clear coat will wrinkle decals, especailly if it's a lacquer or enamel clear coat. Make sure the decals are dry and well set. Make short, quick passes with the can.

Question about Tamiya paint and decals
Posted by gjek on Sunday, May 25, 2008 6:24 PM

I painted a car body with Tamiya gloss black from a rattle can. Went on beautifully!!! Decals? I plan on decaling it then clearcoating it with Tamiya clear from a rattlecan. Any known issues with clear over decals? This is the first time I have worked with Tamiya gloss paints. Any prep prior to spraying the clear? Normally I would just forge ahead but after a catastrophy with a previous car body I will check prior to leaping off the cliff.  Thanks ,Greg.
