do i need a special adaptor

i have an adaptor that was from a really cheap airbrush. but it doesn't quite fit in the badger hose. the hose has a bulb looking piece inside the end that attaches to the aircompressor. do i need to buy a special adaptor to fit into the hose attachment. it screws in but doesn't create a great seal, causing air to leak
