Yes, as long as the Future is properly cured. Acrylics dry to the touch very quickly, but do not fully set or cure for days. I would give it a minimum of 48 hours or even longer (a week?) before applying enamel paint.

So long folks!

Pretty cool,

One final question: Are enamels ok over Future?

The nice thing about Future and using acrylic paints is that if you DO screw up the paint job, a dip in Windex (with ammonia) and you have a nice, clean canopy to start over.

Hi Dave,

Just for future reference (oops, no pun intended), alcohol is one solvent which will remove Future very readily.

Bgrigg, thanks for the reply.  It's good enough to know that I can use soap and water.  I was hoping to swab the canopy framework with alchohol since I have the masking already on it, but if that's not an option I don't mind removing the masking and giving it a wash, and THEN handling it with rubber gloves.  I'm very glad this isn't a WWII bomber...

Soap and water will work, as long as the Future has had time to sufficiently cure (about a week). Otherwise, use gloves so oils from your hands can't contaminate the paint surface.

Cleaning a Future-coated canopy prior to painting?

A quick question: I dipped the canopy in future and getting ready to paint the framework.  How do I clean the surfaces to be painted now that I've got hand oils on the canopy while masking?

TY,

Dave
