1/32 Blue Angels F-18 decals
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 17, 2003 10:27 PM
I have intentions to make one of my Academy Hornet models into a Blue Angels model, but i'm having trouble finding 1/32 decals for the Blues.

Does anyone know where i can find a good set to use?

Cheers

Hey SirMix,
If I'm not mistaken Super Scale did do the Blue Angels in 32d scale a while back.
Also you may want to check w/ CAM decals as well. I know they did them in 48th.
As to if they are still avalible, that is another story. Check here, at your local hobby shop or any local IPMS shows.
Good luck

Thanks, Mike

I just went to the CAM website. They've got a nice set of decals for the Blues in 1/32 scale, but they are for the A/B model of the aircraft, and Academy's model is C. Do you think the slight variation in aircraft dimensions will affect the models? I just want to be sure....I want this model to be (as) perfect (as possible) Tongue [:P]

i haven't been able to access the Super Scale website recently. Is it down, or is it just my computer?

Hold fast, Dave

Hey SirMix,
Glad I could help..!! As for the variant, I do not think that the scheme changed but the pilots name will differ though.
Also what mfg are the decals made for?? You may have to alter them a tad bit.
Let me see what else I can find out w/ SuperScale.

I just checked back with the CAM website and there was no specification as to what model mfg. the decals are made for. All it has is "Blue Angels F/A-18A and B Hornet, 1/32 scale 1987-2001 Seasons"

Still can't get onto the SuperScale site Angry [:(!]

Thanks again for the help!

I have sent several emails to SuperScale about "Blue Angels" decals. They told me in May, that they would be re-releasing the "Fat Albert" set in 1/72 before the end of the year. I started sending them emails in late Oct about the re-release and they have yet to respond to me. I finally broke down and bought an old Airfix "Fat Albert" kit. I am not sure what SuperScale is up too.
