I think Micro Set is mixed with Vinegar.....you can't miss that smell!!!

i read somewhere that micro set (or sol i forgot) is only vinegar and water and some organic solvents.

Has anyone tried to determine the acidity of the name brand setting solutions? I know that there are some 'Chem-E" types out there who might be able to help us out.

Be caeful, I tried the diluted vinegar on some scrap decals and they shriviled up badly. I took into concideration the brand of decals and there thickness. In another test the solution did make some decals snuggle down tight, but it caused a little smearing of the inks. Vinegar is some strong stuff!, on might try diluting them more and have more luck with it. I'll stick with Testors and the usual brands for now. Anyone else try the Vinegar mix with any sucess?

Lizaard, You're probably right. The Model Master Decal Set does smell alot like vinegar. Doesn't taste good on fries, though.

I just have started placing them on future. i did notice a bit of a difference with that, I hav thought about trying setting solution but since most of what I do is armor now and I always weather the decal alot, the shine don't show up any way.

I've used vinegar/water/white glue/drop of dishwashing detergent as my decal solution for years. Sometimes I add a little Future to the solution. I don't know if the solution has helped but it hasn't hurt any of my decals.

Nope ,but I'll try anything once. I'll let you know how it worked for me.
