Adjusting decal after using Solvaset?
Posted by echolmberg on Friday, December 19, 2008 2:07 PM

I used Solvaset on a decal.  However, the decal is in the wrong location?  Is there a way I can move the decal now without destroying it?

Not a chance in the world. Especially is you have a gloss coat on there.

I ended up taking the decal off with masking tape.  Three or four pulls of the tape and it all came off.  Sadly I'll only have the nose art on one side of the plane and even sadder still, no one replied to my request for help with my "Ol Flak Joe" post.  So I'll only have nose art on one side rather than both.  I guess I'll have to spring the $13 just to get an after-market decal sheet for one single decal.  Boohoo [BH]

Ask around on some of the other boards. There is bound to be someone out there who can scan an image you could print on decal paper. Have you tried it? A friend of mine has a nice photo printer and he prints decals all the time. All he needs is a good image. With the right software you should even be able to alter and improve any image you want and print it out on decal paper.

Thanks for the info HK.  I know that many people do their own decals and I think my little mishap is going to cause me to give it a try myself.  My wife (before she stayed home last year to be with the kids) did graphic arts so I'll see if she can help me out with it.

Thanks!
