Revell B-1 decal issues?
Posted by Milairjunkie on Sunday, April 26, 2009 3:53 PM

Following advice a few threads earlier, I purchased myself some Microsol/set for decalling my B-1, but I have an issue;

As general opinion suggests, I have put a coat of Future (now 72 hours dry) onto the B-1 in preperation for decalling, & have started to apply the decals using Microset - the results are not very promising, with the clear areas of the carrier being very obvious - I have also tried Microsol on some these decal to see if any improvment could be made, but no such luck.

With the obvious-ness of the carrier tone down with a bit of time, or do I have a problem? If I do have a problem is it something that anyone is aware of with Revell or their 1/72 Bone?

I have had a scratch about for aftermarket decals for the 1/72 B-1 (Camo pattern), but everything I seem to find is either out of stock or prodcution - would they likley cure the issue if I could get them?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm on the home straight with this bird & I am pretty frustrated that things seem to be going to the wall at this late stage.

You advice would be much appreciated.

I don't recall the exact time frame, but I know that for quite some time Revell and Monogram produced decals you shouldn't use decal solutions on. Now if your kit is a recent release, I wasted time typing.

  Here's something you might try; using a new knife blade and before putting the decals in the water, trim as close to the actual image as you can without cutting through the backing paper. Then (hopefully) when you put the decal in water, you'll be able to easily seperate the image from the clear film.
