Aeromaster was my first choice but the company says they are out of print and don't plan to reprint that particular sheet.  I did find a set included with the Testor's P-47D which appear to be suitable.  I checked out your post and checked out the photos of your rendition of Gabreski's Thunderbold.  It is truly an awesome job.  Did you go with the natural silver undersurfaces for the wings or did you do the gray?  I understand that there is some controversy concerning whether the undersurfaces were painted or not.  In any event, thanks for the input.

Thanks for the nice words about my build. I was real happy with how it came out.

I painted the bottom gray and yes there is a controversy but that is not something that bothers me as I am not a rivet counter. Big Smile [:D]

Have you searched online for the Aeromaster sheet? Maybe Ebay?

Based on the few B&W photos I could find of Gabby's Jug, it really was a toss up. So I opted for the Gray under surfaces. Later P-47s in the 56th (such as Schillings "Hairless Joe) do show NMF undersurfaces. Also check your references for the fueslage invasion stripes. The Photos I used for reference showed only the white stripes outlined in black on the fuselage, not the full black bands around the fuselage.

Here appears full black & white stripes along w/ NMF lowers

And this one has what appears to be gray lowers along with the outlined white invasion stripes

I used the Aeromaster "Wolf Pack" part IV when I built mine.

They come and go- one source for them is the Testors issue of the P-47D kit in 1/48. The decal sheet with that kit is pretty much worth the cost of the kit...

Gabreski's P-47 Bubbletop Decals

I am getting back into modeling after a long break.  I would like to model Frank Gabreski's P-47 Bubbletop.  Are there any decals for Gabreski's plane in 1/48 scale?
