WW1 German lozenge decals in 1/48 scale
Posted by Turboducky on Friday, September 4, 2009 4:13 PM

I have a number of Fokkers, Albatross and Pfalz aircraft in 1/48 scale that I can't complete because they need upper, lower and fuselage lozenge decals.  Squadron never has them.  Apparently they are as scarce as hen's teeth.  Does anybody know where I can buy them.

I'm also interested in the camoflage of Fokker Dr-1s, which I can't seem to duplicate.  I know that somebody has them, but I don't know who.

Any help would be appreciated.

SuperScale International produced four-colour lozenge camouflage in two sets: 48-100 Upper Surface, and 48-101 Lower Surface. They are a bit hard to find now, but should you do manage to get them, you can use both sets to replicate the fuselage pattern.

Recently, a new company also produces the lozenge camouflage in decal form: http://www.microsculpt.com/

A few years ago, FSM produced an article that allowed you to replicate the patterns by painting them. They supplied a template (that you could photocopy) in 1/72nd scale and the ratios needed to reproduce it in 1/48th and 1/32nd.

Note also that that company also sells the streaked Dr1 camo...
