Microsol - Help
Posted by juststartin' on Monday, October 26, 2009 4:50 AM

Hi, I just started using Microsol and followed the instructions. So far its ok but I noticed that once it dried up. I can see that there are places that has a line as thin as a hair. I applied more Microsol (after 12 hours from the initial application) and it wouldn't flatten it out. What should I do? Do I put more Microsol until it flattens out?

I think the lines came where when you put the Microsol, the decal softens and gets wrinkly and you see lines that look like veins then probably dried out and never got the chance to flatten out.

Thanks

Micro Sol should be used in conjunction with Micro Set, not by itself. Micro Set is a wetting agent which also helps the decal snuggle down and allows the Micro Sol to do its job better.

1. Apply Micro Set to area of model where decal is to go.

2. Apply decal. Wait a bit, then gently press decal down with a soft lint-free cloth (the so-called microfiber lens cleaning cloths are ideal for this purpose).

3. Apply Micro Sol and allow it to work.

If after both solutions are completely dry you still see blisters or veins in the decal, prick them with a needle or the tip of your #11 X-Acto knife blade and apply more Micro Sol.

Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble finding some Microsol in my area.  Any product out there that does the same thing?

Thanks,  Kurt

It's said that white vinegar will work as a substitute. (Micro-Set actually smells like vinegar)

If you're looking for an alternative commercial product, you may consider:

Testors "Decal Set"
Gunze "Mr Mark Softer"/"Mr Mark Setter"
Walthers Solvaset

among others...
