Decal softening solutions-help?
Posted by jimbot58 on Monday, August 30, 2010 2:13 AM

I have always used Microsol in the past with great success, but right now I am working on Italeri's A6-E intruder, decals printed by Zanchetti Buccinasco and I find them a bit thick. I am having to flood the areas repeatedly to get them to settle into panel lines where as most of the decals I used before, just a dab of the Microsol sucks them right down. Is there a solution that is a bit stronger for these difficult decals?

I have heard of some using white vinegar and even liquid cement. The cement idea is too scary to even think about!

Please and thank you for any advice!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

I just wanted to add that repeated applications finally made those tricky little buggers behave! That and walking away for while! Didn't FSM do a review some time back of the various solutions? Is there any kind of an index here?

Jimbot58: I've run into that probluem also befor you slide the decal on to model put a puddel of solution on model then lay decal in solution. Then put some ontop leave alone for a while then VERY CAREFULLY use a cotton swab roll it across decal then let dry add more if needed roll again with swab. Try Solvaset I think it's stronger than Microset.                  ACESES5Propeller
