Wrinkling Decals
Posted by jburns on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 9:59 PM

I am finishing up a build of a 1:48 Scale F-14 Thunderbirds Plane. I brushed some future on to give it some shine and the decal on the port wing (bird on the bottom) wrinkled up on me. I had used some Solvaset on all of the decals, as I always do, about a week prior to this. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance for any input or feedback you can offer.

If the decal was dry then a quick brush of future should not have caused any reaction or wrinkling. Was the coat of Future before decals completely dry? Most recommend 24 hours, 48 is better. I am thinking the Future reacted with itself on the under layer, as it will soften itself.

Window cleaner (with ammonia) will remover the Future (also the decal) You will just have to source out a replacement decal and start over.
