Tiny decal application tips needed

While I've never attempted any 1/800th scale decals (my venue is mainly 1/48th), I use a sewing needle chucked into the handle of an X-Acto knife to move tiny decals into position along with a magnifying lens/lamp, a steady hand and a lot of patience. To blot up the excess Micro-Set or Micro-Sol the decal is setting in I use a 5-0 brush and a tiny piece of paper napkin.

Fine point tweezers and decal setting solution are required.  After a drop of decal solution tiny decals do tend to float around. At that point I touch the corner of a Kleenex to the drop of solution. It wicks up most of it, leaving just enough to allow you to reposition the decal and help it set. I sometimes use the point of a knife with #11 blade to move decal around but point of fine point tweezers also works fine.

If there is room, cut the decal out bigger than you need.  Trim it close with a new #11 blade and just score the film.  After its loose pull the excess stuff away with the tip of the blade.  The bigger paper backing gives you something to hang onto.
