What is the best way of sealing decals on NMF aircraft?

On the Bench: Trumperter Tsesarevich on deck Glencoe USS Oregon
I will either apply using a paint brush some of my SnJ Spray Metal Clear/Decal Sealer or Future. Apply to the decal.
If I want greater protection I will cover the entire model using my airbrush.
