Microscale Solvent

Ran into this problem today whilst decaling my S-3A.  Applied a coat of Solvent  (blue bottle) to the aircraft, once the decal hit it, it REALLY softened up and smeared/disenegrated on meAngry  It's a lot thicker than the last bottle of the stuff I had.  Is there anything to cut it with (water?) to thin it out, but still acheive the same effect?  This torqued me pretty bad considering it happened with 4 out of 5 decals.  Also, has anyone expirienced a whitening leftover effect or a white stain on the paint job afterwards?
