1/16 custom decals, masks and placards - help needed
Posted by snapdragonxxx on Sunday, October 2, 2011 3:52 PM

Hi chaps.

For those who don't know I am currently starting out on a 140 week build of a large scale (1/16) Stuka G "Panzerjager"

You can see my build here.

/forums/t/141559.aspx

As I get 4 parts a month I have no idea on just how much detail there is. Ther should be alot as it is a full frame and skin model.

I am asking if anyone knows of a company of individual who can do 1/16 national insignia, lettering plus both internal and external stenciling and cockpit placards. I would prefer masks as in this large scale it is much easier and better looking to paint them on rather than decals, although I will use decals if I have to.

I am sure that eventually there will be decals etc coming with this, but I have no idea on the quality or standard.

If someone can help then I would be very grateful

If the decals are dark color, I would try inkjet decals.  Inkjet decal making has been perfected, with very good blank paper available.  But...   Light colored and white lettering and design are real challenges that take an expert in computer graphics with a calibrated computer/printer setup.

Dark designs- all black and other dark colors, are relatively easy to do.  You can even scan smaller scale decals and enlarge them to some degree.

Thanks Don

I have found a guy near me in the UK trading under flightline graphics who thinks he can help me. I hope you will follow my build

Indeed , I have a few great ideas that I started working on in the matter of some custom decks, I have found a great method of applying die cut custom stickers, so you can really overhaul.
