Mouldy Decals
Posted by Scorpiomikey on Sunday, November 13, 2011 12:54 AM

Hey guys, ive got tamiya's F4F-4 Wildcat. It appears to have been stored in an unsavoury environment before coming into my possession.  Some box damage and discolouration. The worst part though, the decal sheet has gone a little bit mouldy. Its not too bad, but there is some slight discolouration of the whites, matt patches here and there. The other thing is they've gone quite brittle. I tested one i wasnt going to use and it just shattered.

Is there a way to fix them? Im not worried about the discolouration, i can incorporate this into weathering. Its the brittleness im worried about.

I have testors decal bonder. Microscale flat and satin. And future.

Or is it going to be easier to get some AM ones?

Tanks in advance guys.

Mike

Mike

I would take the AM route on this one. It sounds like the decals would be questionable at best.

Best of luck with it

Enjoy the ride!

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go. Wink
