Quality of recent Revell decals?

Though I haven't built the kit yet, the decals included with the Revell 1/32 Bf-110 were more comprehensive than the Dragon kit and perfectly registered ..............quality is certainly far superior than the early 1990s when I took a break from the hobby.

Yeah these looked pretty decent (as have a few other recent purchases - the RoG Ar 196, F-80 and F-84G all have pretty solid-looking decal sheets. The two B-25's I nabbed maybe somewhat less so.

But I haven't used them so would love to know what to expect.

Their decals are better than they were 20-35 years ago. Better printing, thinner decals, none of that horrid milky white glue after effect. Some of their smaller stencil decals can be fragile, but overall, a huge quality improvement from "back in the day".

While I find the decals in recent kits better than older ones, a few mfgs (especially from Eastern Europe) seem to be trying too hard.  The decals are extremely thin, which is great if you can handle them without tearing.  However, they tear so easily that handling is very difficult, and I now coat them with a decal film before soaking.

The only Eastern European kit sheets I've played with are the Cartograf-printed gems that come with Eduard Profipacks. IMO they're the gold standard for kit decals (and honestly, many aftermarket decals).

Try some ICM decals sometime Doogs... While Revell's may not be Cartograf, they are leagues better than ICM or old Revell.

Having just built "The Bug" I liked the quility of the decals.
