removing new decals
Posted by jbrady on Sunday, December 25, 2011 10:52 PM

Just had a major brain cramp and I need t remove decals just applied. The underlying paint is MM enamel, the clear coat is Micro Clear, and the setting solution is Micro Sol. I hope there's a way to get them up without damaging the paint. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx

Apparently just warm water will do it. Never had it work for me, though.

Scotch Tape works great. Make a loop like you would use to hang up a picture or poster and apply it to the decal, then pull it up.

Tactical Thermo Nuclear Weapons may do it! If not borrow some of manny's sarcasm (read charm), beats anything no probs.

Fold an appropriately sized pad of tissue (eg. kleenex) wet it (just with water) and lay it over the decal. Leave for about 10 minutes and it should lift cleanly. If it doesn't release, repeat.

Thanks guys... the tape method worked like a charm. Glad I caught the problem before I sealed the decals.

Yes, I used to use that sort of tape for masking canopies and discovered that on accident during tape removal...Black Eye
