Kermit,

Try 1001 Free Fonts or Dafont
I think that 1001 Free Fonts even has a russian letters category.
But I don't know if it's there, but I'm pretty sure you have something that looks like it over there

Richard, here's some wartime photos, seems the VVS used different style numbers and fonts on almost every airplane, but they look different than any other nations fonts and markings, so not sure what to tell you. Maybe just trying to draw it free hand on masking tape the cutting it out with an exacto and painting it on? I have some spare VVS decals(#s 5 and 4) for various birds but the font is slightly different for each one. Good luck.

Note the difference in number style between the Mig 3s and LaGGs

Richard,

A white decal is a bit problematic.  You might try taking that image into photoshop and printing it onto a sheet of frisket paper and using that as a mask to paint the marking.

font for VVS aircraft numbers...?

Hey guys,

I am currently modeling "white 54" out of ICM's Mig3 kit in 1/48 scale:

Since i misplaced the decalsheet so it seems (not that it was any good i have heard) i am planning on printing the numbers myself. The stars i can get from my spares box.

One will obviously notice the russians had a kind of peculiar font for these numbers and as i am told the font also varied from factory to factory.

The question ofcourse is: Does any know of, or have, a font like this? I am pretty skilled using photoshop and paint shop, i just need a font to work with. Any reference site with a picture of these numbers might also be valuable.

Thank you for reading and i hope someone has the answer i need.

Richard
