Does weather effect decaling like it does with airbrushing

Started to decal my model a Amodel mig 9 already shredded a couple of stars the last Amodel kit I did the decals went down fine.

It has been very hot and dry where I am at so I am wondering if it might be weather related or is it just a case of bad decals.

And I used micro sol and set on them too just like I did with the other one.

I usually have problems with high humidity... Just a guess but i think dry air wouldnt hurt.  When i open a kit, i put the decals in a zip lock (if it will fit) with a moisture absorber (aka the do not eat pouches).  I built two models from italeri, one from 2004 and the other from 2005.  The 2005 shredded pretty bad so maybe the quality from each batch is inconsistant.

Shepherd Book once said to me, "If you can't do something smart, do something right."

Micro Sol is very aggressive. I advocate using Micro Set first, only using the sol if the set doesn't do enough.  When you DO use sol, you must not touch the decal at all after application. It will bubble up, and maybe even crack, but should nestle down when it dries.  It is best to lay the surface with the decal on it as flat as possible so the solution does not drag parts of the decal down a slope.  With good decals I find I do not ordinarily need to use Sol on most areas, only where there are louvers, bumps, or something like that that have a lot of surface curvature.

It may be a bit late now, but you can apply a coat of Microscale Liquid Decal Film to your suspect decals to reduce the risk of them cracking up.
