after market decal question????
Posted by inpw1 on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 12:49 AM
ok, this is gonna seem stupid........I am doing a P2V-5 neptune in 1/72 scale. I need to put it in VP-42 markings ( just consists of changing the plane number, serial number, the VP in a couple of spots, and the squadron designation letters on the tail). These in two different sizes depending on which marking they are. Ok heres the question..... If i order a decal sheet of lets say numbers in grey, do they come in all the same size numbers, or are they different sizes so i can use the correct size number (or letter) where needed???? Also do i order these sheets in a particular scale ( say 1/72) or are they just a generic sheet???? And finally, anyone have any recomendations where i can find a sheet of letter and a sheet of numbers ????

ythanks

Go to Wal Mart, see the model shelves where the testors paints are, you should see a small box from testors for printing decals on your home bubblejet printer - costs about 6 bucks, has software, fixative and decal paper. Make your own numbers and letters. I picked up a set but have not had time to try it out yet.

Alternatively hit your local Arts Supply store and look for screentone(Letraset, etc. )and similar dry-transfer stuff.

They should come in a variety of colours too.
