Anyone used jbot decals before?
Posted by gunner_chris on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 4:16 PM

I order decals from jbot.ca in october. Seemed to have good comms, and willing make the decals smaller (n scale).

But that's the end of it.  Decals never showed, no sitrep.  All follow up emails ignored.

Last post on the site was from January saying he's working on getting caught up, any questions to email him (which has been ineffective)

Anyone familiar with them - is this common and wait it out or have I been hosed?

Yes I have and I'm still waiting for a order from Feb 1.he received my payment and said that they were printed out and he was mailing them that weekend. That was a month ago and emailed him 5 times and no answer, yet when I was ordering I he was emailing back

Its a bummer cause I ordered a set of Ariane 4 rocket decals, paid for them, finished the model and I'm entering it in a contest at the end of April. Those decals are what will make the model. I hope they show up before then:/

At least you're still within 45 days PayPal resolution timeframe. I'm way out, and its looking like I'm out the money for the decals.

I paid him with a bank check. Its just bad buisness. No excuse unless something drastic happened in his life

Great - so you're in the same boat as me

It would be unfortunate if something drastic has happened, but my spidey senses are tingling with foul business playing on this one

I emailed again - actually I've been emailing daily.

This time just inquiring if he's still doing decals.  I got the response within a few hours that just email him whatever I want and not to worry about waiting for the shopping cart to be reactivated.

So I replied that its good to hear, can he supply the status of my October order.

Big shocker - no reply.

Unbelievable. Taking more orders and stealing our money.

I got some from him a few years ago. It seems like it took a long time to get them then and was not very good at communicating. The decals were worth the wait looking back.

I sent a request for the money to be returned via PayPal, and it was done within the hour.

At least I got the money returned.

Now need a new decals plan

I'm glad you got your money back. I'm going to email him now and have my money returned as well.

i order stuff some decals from him back in december, he told me it would be a week or two before they got sent out.  Now it is April, and i haven't heard back from him with all of emails.  I even sent him a message from a junk email account like i was a new customer, never got a reply from him. I bought the Barricade (From transformers) decal set for a Saleen, the saleen is siting in my basement waiting for his decals

I even filed a dispute with PayPal to get my money back, but they sided with him, but never heard a peep out of him after i told him i was filing a dispute with PayPal.  So i guess, i will never see my $20 or the decals

No one understands the rules of business anymore, and least of all garage kit suppliers. I ran into this same problem with Acreation Decals. Great initial communication, but then no responses to inquiries. He'd average one response a month with some excuse or other. The decals I ordered in January finally showed up in my mailbox in May. Terrible communication and terrible follow-through on promises made to customers.

TwoBobs was okay, but the decals they sent were terribly out of register. If it were me, I would check these before I mail them out, but apparently no one does that. So cue the whole return/exchange scenario, which is a pain when you're a stay-at-home dad all day. To be fair TwoBobs didn't print the decals though, and I don't remember who did off the top of my head.

If you are going to go into business for yourself, you have to commit to it wholeheartedly. You return communications with customers. You follow through on promises made. You ensure a quality product. It's unfortunate that some vendors treat their business like they do their hobby.

I invested in a couple sets of decals from Jim in October 2012. He has my movey, but I do not have any decals or emails from him. Maybe he is just slow! It does seem that he keeps his ebay account current.

Tend to agree with durkpitt77 in general; with the caveat that many seem to get into a horrible spiral of too many orders and not enough time/ where-with-all to competently produce the product(s)  and then fall victim  to  failing to admit they can't get the job done and hoping to catch up soon; like a dog chasing its tail.

That said, I would always prefer to be told there is a wait time of XXX or that my order is returned because it can't be done in reasonable time.  that kind of information would keep me coming back in the future.

Oh well good luck to all of you; at least I'll know who not to order from for now.

For some custom rub on transfers I used http://www.rubontransfers.net Regular production time is 4 days from receipt of the art. Multiple colors can get expensive but for a custom model with white text on a metallic paint the transfers were amazing. When I spoke to them they were considering offering discounts for extend production delays.

I have not bought anything from him but I was interested in ordering some star trek decals he has produced. I have emailed him 3 times and can not get a response. If anyone is interested I have used jt-graphics and he has been good about filling orders. www.jt-graphics.com is his web site.
